The Write Advice
Support for writers on the path to publication
We are a group of qualified editors and mentors (writing coaches), who also happen to be seasoned SFF authors with more than 20 novels to our names – so far. We have many years’ experience in both self-publishing and traditional publishing, navigating self-promotion, querying literary agents, and working with publicists, publishing houses, editors, agents, and booksellers.

We want writers to benefit from our experience in publishing and our expertise as editors.
Whether you want to find a book editor or learn more about how mentoring can help you be a better writer, we’re happy to answer any questions you have.
We’re here to help you improve your writing craft, provide guidance and feedback as you write your first novel, or fifth, or twentieth, and to prepare you for the realities of your journey towards publication.
Our job is to get you where you want to be, whether that’s self-published, working with a small or independent press, or finding a literary agent to pursue a traditional publishing path. We offer critiques, ongoing mentoring, and varying levels of editorial guidance to help you achieve your writing goals.
Guidance
As experienced authors, we have a wealth of knowledge that we want to share with others. You only get one chance to make a good first impression with a literary agent. We can help you avoid the pitfalls that new writers stumble into, and give you the best fighting chance of getting their attention for all the right reasons.
This guidance includes working with you on a query letter and submission package, or providing an evaluation and report of a manuscript you believe to be ready for querying.
Editing
Our editorial services bring both an editor’s and a storyteller’s eye for plot, characters and worldbuilding to your craft and writing technique. Working together, we can help polish your vision so that it shines on the page.
We will advise on how best to streamline your narrative by tightening the prose without erasing your own natural style, pump up the plot so it does what you need it to, and deepen the storytelling experience and emotional content by prioritising realistic dialogue and characterisation.
Mentoring
Sometimes you don’t know where to go with a story and need some help. It can be a fresh pair of eyes on your manuscript, a good listener and sounding board to help you find a way forward, or just someone to brainstorm ideas with.
Whether monthly, quarterly, or just when you need us, our mentoring services can help you build and then maintain momentum with your novel.
We can also offer guidance and support about social media presence, finding a literary agent, and working with publishers.
